As you will see, a considerable lot of them are from the virtual world.  Among my top picks, which started on Reddit, is TL;DR (Too since quite a while ago; didn't peruse.) Some of this years sections have met with cries of shock among the literati, yet we would all well to recall the astute insight of Jorge Luis Borges who said that language isn't, as we are directed to assume by the word reference, the development of academicians or philologists.
